Personal Home Visits
Mel will tell you that there is no single solution and that every family is unique. Mel does not claim to have any revolutionary or unique technique up her sleeve! but uses techniques and strategies that are well recognised and based on over 30 years practical experience, of which she will select and combine the most appropriate methods in a way that is right for you, your child and current situation.
Every single sleep, weaning or feeding programme that she implements is tailor-made. It takes into account not only your child’s history, personality and developmental stage but also your expectations and family dynamics. She will observe, as you take your baby through her usual routine and then go through with you a plan of action. She will always explain in detail and give a reason to justify her methods. There will also be plenty of opportunity do discuss breastfeeding/ formula feeding, weaning and diet, teething, potty training for older siblings, or anything else relating to your baby.
2 Night – Home Stay Visit (40hrs approx) including two phone consultations & email or text support up to 14 days after the visit

What can I expect to happen during her visit?
She will observe, as you take your baby through her usual mealtime, bath time and bedtime routine. Mel will then assist you, as you settle your baby to sleep for the night. Once baby is tucked up in bed, the sleep nanny will go through with you in detail how the problem began and explain her plan of action. She will always explain in detail and give a reason to justify her methods. Mel will then commence implementation of the programme and take over the first night time wakings, allowing you to sleep and recharge your batteries (only waking you if breastfeeding is required)
What will the following day involve?
This will be a time to reflect on the night before and for you to catch up on your baby’s progress. Discuss, evaluate and fine tune the routine for the following night. The sleep nanny can advise you of a suitable routine for the day also, which generally helps promote better sleeping habits during the night. There will also be plenty of opportunity do discuss breastfeeding/ formula feeding, weaning and diet, teething, potty training for older siblings, or anything else relating to your baby. The sleep nanny can take care of your baby during the afternoon if you wish, so that you can rest.
What will happen during the second night?
On the second night, Mel will go through the mealtime, bath time and bedtime with you. She may offer some direction. Her advice will always make your life easier and help to promote confidence. Mel will then assist you during your baby’s wakeful times during the night. This time she will be directing you with clear instructions on how to teach your baby to settle back to sleep with the minimal of fuss. She will be guiding you through every step of the way. If you prefer, Mel can take care of your baby during her wakeful times on the second night too. This will allow you to get plenty of rest ready for the third night. Mel will leave first thing Saturday morning, but will call you later during the day to make sure you feel confident and happy to embark on the third night by your self. Once the routine is established your baby or toddler will be happy & content. You can then stop being exhausted & you can start to enjoy being a parent again. Overnight visits are generally Friday night through to Sunday morning.
